Mt. Notoro will be an easy one hour ascent from nearby Asa Zoo which is15km from downtown Hiroshima. From the top, a superb view of Hiroshima city can be seen. It is an ideal spot for an early summer hike.

We recommend that you descend on the same trail and visit the Asa Zoological Park. There are a wide variety of species of animals, about 1,100 individuals of 160 species, in a beautiful 23-hectare-nature park.

�ŸGetting There

To get to the zoo, take an Astramline train from Hondori Station and get off at Kamiyasu Station. Transfer to a bus for Asahigaoka and get off at Asa Zoo. From there walk down in the same direction for 5 minutes, and turn right at a signboard that reads, "Samuel Kindergarten (Japanese)".
