A view of the koigahama Beach(front) and the Kenmin no Hama Beach

Mt. Nanakuniki stands on Kami-Kamagari Island which is popular with the beautiful Kenmin no Hama, Hiroshima Citizenfs Beach. This island is linked by a bridge to Shimo-kamagari Island which is also connected to the Honshu main land by the newly-opened Akinada Ohashi Bridge.

From the north end of the Kamagari Tunnel in Kami-Kamagari Island, you can start walking to Mt. Nanakunimi. From the mountaintop superb views of the Inland Sea can be seen. A trail leads you down to the Koigahama Beach on the south side of the island, and Kenmin no Hama beach is a 1.5-kilometer walk from there. The Citizenfs Beach is equipped with a lodging, a study facility, a gym, an astronomical observatory and a museum. There is also a hot spring there. It will make you feel really refreshed, if you soak yourself in a big hot bath.@

An area called Sannose in Shimo-kamagari Island was an important center of sea traffic during the Edo Period (1603-1867). At the time the Hiroshima Clan built a large-scale guest house there. It is said that envoys from Korea dropped by and stayed there 11 times. You can see how they were entertained with all sorts of good things to eat at a museum "Gochiso-ichibankan" which is situated at the west end of the Kamagari Ohashi Bridge.
