Imosenotaki Falls

The 596-meter Kyogoya mountain stands on the mainland opposite Miyajima Island. From JR Ohnoura Station, walk east for about 25 minutes to Imosenotaki Falls. The word "taki" in Japanese means waterfall; and Imosenotaki is made up of two falls. One is 50 meters high and the other is 30 meters. Because they come as a pair and at their comparative heights, they were aptly named the "husband-and-wife falls". Heading into the mountain, it is a two-hour hike to the summit.

Around the mountaintop is a beautiful forest park; and the panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea from there is breathtakingly marvelous, extending from Miyajima to far away the mountain ranges on Shikoku

Getting there

Take a train westbound on the JR Sanyo Line and get off at Ohnoura Station. From the station, walking east for 25 minutes takes you to Imosenotaki Falls. From there it is a 2-hour ascent to the mountain top.
