Walking up to Mt.Garyu

Mt. Garyu is situated in Geihoku Town, located in the northwestern part of Hiroshima Prefecture. Mt. Garyu is covered with a mass of gigantic 200-year-old beech trees. Even in March, lots of snow still remain there as eight out of the prefecture's 23 ski slopes are concentrated in this town. From the foot of the mountain, 800 meters above sea level, walk up into the magnificent snow-covered beech forest to the summit of the mountain. Waterproof hiking boots or rubber boots with spats are necessary.
