           第十五章 幸い

                    Chapter XV  Happiness


197.   susukhaṃ vata jīvāma

           verinesu averino

           verinesu manussesu

           viharāma averino.


   大いに楽しく生きよう

   怨みある所で怨みなく

   怨みある者の中で

   怨みなく暮らそう。(話20)


            Let us live  extremely happily

            amidst hatred, free from hatred

            among those who have hatred

            let us dwell free from hatred.



198.  susukhaṃ vata jīvāma

          āturesu anāturā

          āturesu manussesu

          viharāma anāturā.


   大いに楽しく生きよう

   病いのある所で病いなく

   病んだ者の中で

   病いなく暮らそう。(悟39)


            Let us live extremely happily

            amidst diseases, free from diseases

            among those who have diseases

            let us dwell free from diseases.



199.  susukhaṃ vata jīvāma

          ussukesu anussukā

          ussukesu manussesu

          viharāma anussukā.


   大いに楽しく生きよう

   貪欲に満ちた所で貪欲なく

   貪欲な者の中で

   貪欲なく暮らそう。(悟39)


            Let us live extremely happily

            amidst greed, free from greed

            among those who are greedy

            let us dwell free from greed.



200.  susukhaṃ vata jīvāma

          yesan no n' atthi kiñcanaṃ

          pītibhakkhā bhavissāma

          devā ābhassarā yathā.


   大いに楽しく生きよう

   たとえ無一物であっても

   喜びを食するものであろう

   光輝く神(光音天)のように。(話106)


            Let us live extremely happily

            even if we had nothing

            let us be joy-eaters

            like the radiant gods(Ābhassarā).

201.  jayaṃ veraṃ pasavati

          dukkhaṃ seti parājito

          upasanto sukhaṃ seti

          hitvā jayaparājayaṃ.


   勝てば怨みを生む

   敗者は苦しみ臥す

   安らぎに達した人は安楽に臥す

   勝ち負けを捨てて。(話28)


            Victory produces hatred

            the defeated dwell in pains

            the peaceful live happily

            renouncing both victory and defeat.



202.  n' atthi rāgasamo aggi

          n' atthi dosasamo kali

          n' atthi khandhādisā dukkhā

          n' atthi santiparaṃ sukhaṃ.


   貪欲に等しい火はない

   瞋りに等しい損失はない

   五蘊(身心)に等しい苦はない

   安らぎに優る福はない。(悟144)


            There is no fire like the fire of lusts

            there is no loss like the loss of anger

            there are no sufferings like the sufferings of existence

            there is no happiness higher than perfect

                                                                           tranquility(Nibbāna).



203.  jighacchāparamā rogā

          saṃkhārāparamā dukhā

          etaṃ ñatvā yathābhūtaṃ

          nibbānṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ.


   飢えは最大の病いであり

   現象(するもの)は最大の苦である

   このように如実に知る人に

   涅槃は最高の福である。(悟202)


            Hunger is the greatest of afflictions

            the aggregates of being are the greatest of sufferings

            knowing this truly as it is

            Nibbāna is the greatest happiness.



204.  ārogyaparamā lābhā

          santuṭṭhiparamaṃ dhanaṃ

          vissāsaparamā ñātī

          nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ.


   健康は最大の利得であり

   知足は最大の財である

   信頼は最高の親族であり

   涅槃は最高の福である。(悟164)


            Health is the greatest gain

            contentment is the greatest wealth

            confidence is the best relative

            Nibbāna is the greatest happiness.

205.  pavivekarasaṃ pītvā

          rasaṃ upasamassa ca

          niddaro hoti nippāpo

          dhammapītirasaṃ pivaṃ.


   独居の味を飲み

   寂静を味わい

   苦悩なく悪もない

   法の喜びを味わいつつ。


            Having tasted the sweetness of solitude

            the sweetness of tranquility

            free from fear and free from sin

            drinking the sweetness of the joy of the Law.



206.  sādhu dassanam ariyānaṃ

          sannivāso sadā sukho

          adassanena bālānaṃ

          niccam eva sukhī siyā.


   諸々の聖者に見えるのは善き哉

   彼らと共に住むのは常に幸いなる哉

   愚者に会わないことで

   実に常に幸いであれかし。


            It is good to see the Noble

            to live with them is ever happy

            not seeing fools

            may one ever be happy.



207.  bālasaṅgatacārī hi

          dīghamaddhāna socati

          dukkho bālehi saṃvāso

          amitteneva sabbadā

          dhīro ca sukhasaṃvāso

          ñātīnaṃ va samāgamo.


   愚者と共に行ずる者は実に

   長きに亘って愁う

   愚者と共に住むのは苦である

   仇と常にある如し

   賢者と共に住む安楽は

   親族と共にあるが如し。(悟76)


             One who walks in the company of fools

             grieves for a long time

             Living with fools is always brings suffering

             as with an enemy

             living with the wise,however, is happy

             as meeting with one's kinsfolk.



208.  tasmā hi

          dhīrañ ca paññañ ca bahussutañ ca

          dhoreyyasīlaṃ vatavantam āriyaṃ

          taṃ tādisaṃ sappurisaṃ sumedhaṃ

          bhajetha nakkhattapathaṃ va candimā.


                           Sukhavaggo pannarasamo


   それ故に

   賢者にして、智慧あり、博学で

   忍耐強く、戒を守り、聖なる人

   そのような善き、賢き人に

   親近すべし、月が星宿の道に従うように。


       幸い 第15章


             Therefore,

             sapiential, wise,  learned

             patient, dutiful, noble

             so good and intelligent a person

             one should take to, as the moon follows

                                                      the path of constellations.
